7 Miami Neighborhoods to Know

When most people think about Miami, they think about the beach – but there’s much more to city than the coastline. Discover some of our favorite Miami neighborhoods.

  1. Downtown:

Comprised of the Central Business District, Park West, Omni and Brickell, Downtown Miami is the cultural, commercial, and financial heart of the city. It’s also one of the oldest neighborhoods, and home to numerous museums, theaters, shops and government buildings.

  1. Little Havana:

Just west of Downtown Miami, you’ll find Little Havana – a vibrant and colorful neighborhood centered around Calle Ocho (8th Street). Spanish is the main language spoken in this district, which is a popular tourist destination during the day.

  1. Coconut Grove:

For exquisite shopping and fine dining, visit this historic neighborhood that is located next to Biscayne Bay. With lush vegetation and a storied past, Coconut Grove feels like a tropical oasis in the middle of the city.

  1. Doral:

A prestigious location and thriving economic center, Doral is situated directly west of Miami on the other side of Miami International Airport – just 30 minutes from downtown. Business is booming in this conveniently situated suburb, which is the home of Carnival Cruise Lines, Perry Ellis International, Benihana and Amadeus North America. You’ll find a diverse population, along with a huge number of shops, businesses and financial institutions. Many people commute to Doral each day for work, and its location by the airport makes it a top choice for business travelers, jet setters, young professionals and families.

  1. Kendall/West End:

With a convenient location and affordable real estate, this attractive suburb offers the best of both worlds. Situated southwest of Miami between Highway 1 and 812, Kendall/West End is just 25 to 35 minutes from Downtown Miami – and it’s well connected by public transportation to the entire metro area. This appealing community is preferred by families and young couples, and it features excellent shopping destinations including The Falls and Dadeland Mall.

  1. Hialeah:

Located northwest of Miami just north of the international airport, Hialeah is Florida’s sixth-largest city. This quickly growing suburb is one of the biggest commercial centers in Miami-Dade County, with numerous options for dining, shopping, and outdoor recreation. Known for being diverse, hard working, and family-oriented, Hialeah is a desirable place to live for young professionals, couples, and families of all kinds.

  1. Homestead:

Affordable and accessible, Homestead features small town appeal with easy access to the city via the Florida Turnpike. Situated about 35 miles south of Miami, this friendly suburban community is a favorite place to live for families, couples and active adults. Nestled between two national parks, Homestead is known as the “Gateway to Everglades and Biscayne National Parks.” Live here, and you’re only 25 miles from Key Largo and the southernmost tip of Florida.
